The Château Bernateau is a total success in this vintage. It displays a wonderful dark color and instantly begins with aromatics of ripe black cherries and blackberries, which come together with spring florals, toast, exotic spices and hints of smoky mineral nuances all taking shape. On the palate this is full-bodied and beautifully polished with excellent depth and concentration. It possesses a opulent core or ripe dark fruits which is lifted by a lovely underlying acidity, that drives it into the finish. This is a remarkable wine and already showing so much appeal, and while this will likely continue to age well over the course of the next decade, it is drinking beautifully right now.
